After Drone Attack Scare, India Flexes Tech Muscle in Counter-Drone Race


India isn't messing around when it comes to protecting its airspace. In recent years, the country has rapidly become a serious player in developing cutting-edge ways to stop rogue drones in their tracks.

This push comes after a 2021 drone attack on the Jammu Air Force Station – a rude awakening that showed India needed a better way to defend against these threats.

That attack was a first for India, and it didn't go unnoticed. The incident lit a fire under the country, leading to big investments and lots of brainpower being poured into counter-drone technology.

Threats From All Sides​

The thing is, India's got to be on guard against a whole range of drone threats. There are traditional enemies like Pakistan, and then there are smugglers and other sneaky folks trying to use drones to get things across borders or spy on things they shouldn't. This constant low-level danger is what keeps Indian scientists hard at work finding new solutions.

Getting Technical​

So, what are they cooking up? Think super-sensitive radar systems, noise trackers that can pick up the buzz of drones, and ways to zap drones out of the sky with lasers or microwaves. They're even working on – get this – nets to snag drones right out of the air, or systems that mess with a drone's signals to make it fly off or crash-land. India's going all out with a mix of ways to find, disable, and capture these flying pests.

India's Edge​

India's got a reputation for building smart technology on a budget, and that could make all the difference in the drone defense market. If they can get this tech reliable and affordable, other countries dealing with similar threats might become customers.

It's clear: India isn't just dealing with its own drone problems, it's getting ready to help others do the same. From that first scary attack to now, the country's made huge strides, turning a challenge into an exciting technological race.
 
BSF still running and chasing the drones for miles with their machine guns, hope they make something useful that is implemented in large scale across all the arms of the Military.
 
Counter Drone technologies are dependent of circuit design due to heavy signal crunching involved. India does indeed hold strength in this regard and also a lot of design research happens here.

Where we lack is in the field of motion electronics dye to which design of actual drones and setup of an advanced manufacturing facility is what we lack.

Hopefully we will eventually be able to establish an ecosystem for manufacturing of advanced drones.
 
How can India be a leader when it is USA, Israel & UK that have demonstrated DEW in three domains - ground, sea & air - using laser as well as microwave. While Germany's Skyranger is renowned for anti-air cannon with AHEAD ammo.

Can BEL's & Zen's product compete with those three-four?
 
India is definitely advancing but self proclaimed front runner status is Nonsense but please keep on pushing for breakthroughs and innovations by motivation and funding .

So far there is no operational DEW system. Everything is work under.progress. Don't post your pessimistic views.
