Airbus Defence and Space has announced the successful delivery of two additional C-295 transport aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF). These aircraft, the fourth and fifth in a series, departed from Airbus' production facility in Seville, Spain, marking a significant step in modernizing the IAF's airlift capabilities.

This delivery is part of a substantial agreement between Airbus and India, encompassing the acquisition of 56 C-295 aircraft to replace the IAF's aging Avro fleet.

The initial 16 aircraft will be manufactured in Spain, while the remaining 40 will be produced in India under a joint venture between Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Airbus.

The C-295, a versatile medium-sized transport aircraft renowned for its efficiency, is expected to significantly bolster the IAF's airlift capabilities. The aircraft's adaptability makes it suitable for a wide range of missions, including troop transport, cargo delivery, and humanitarian aid operations.

With the induction of these new C-295s, the IAF is poised to enhance its operational reach and responsiveness. The aircraft's ability to operate from short and unpaved runways further expands its utility in diverse operational scenarios.

This development underscores the growing partnership between Airbus and India in the aerospace sector. The joint production of C-295 aircraft in India not only strengthens the IAF's capabilities but also contributes to the development of the country's aerospace industry.
