In a major step towards bolstering India's defence aviation capabilities, the first C-295 military transport aircraft entirely manufactured in India under the "Make in India" initiative is expected to be delivered by September 2026. The final aircraft in the order is slated for delivery in August 2031.

This ambitious project, a partnership between Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Airbus, will not only strengthen India's defence capabilities but also significantly advance the country's aerospace industry.

At the heart of this program is indigenous manufacturing. A new aircraft manufacturing facility is being established in Gujarat by TASL, marking a significant milestone in India's aerospace capabilities.

The C-295 manufactured in India will boast 75% indigenous content, a critical aspect of India's push for self-reliance in defence production. This high level of localization is expected to boost India's industrial base, generate employment opportunities, and foster the development of a robust indigenous supply chain in the aerospace sector.

The project goes beyond simple assembly in India. It involves manufacturing key components such as avionics, landing gear, and other critical systems within the country. This will enhance the capabilities of Indian aerospace companies and suppliers, providing them with valuable experience in the high-technology field of military aircraft manufacturing.

The C-295 program underscores India's long-term vision for a self-sufficient defence sector. It serves as a stepping stone for India to expand its capabilities in designing and manufacturing larger and more advanced defence aircraft in the future. By transitioning from importing military transport aircraft to building them locally, India is setting the stage for a broader indigenization effort across its aerospace sector.

We should make additional 20+ maritime patrol , 18+ AEW&C , and 36+ Military version (Bombers) of C-295 aircraft !

Good if it reach 75% Localisation next will b TASL should come with its own concept in future and contribute to Aviation Industries

Propeller driven bomber? I think if we finalize Emberar c390...that will be more suitable for Awacs...given its higher altitude capabilities...
