GTRE should ink deal with Safran to incorporate Snecma engine tech to generate (90-95 KN) thrust with after burner ! 73-75 Kn thrust is not enough !

This argument was countered multiple times. High attitude test was simulated in Russia on ground. Never was it tested in flying test bed.
Yes it has been tested in a simulated environment on the ground which copies the extreme cold temperatures, wet, snowy and reduce oxygen levels. So it passed that crucial test which now means they can use it on a jet. No country is ever going to manufacture around 6-8 engines if they weren’t confident enough that it would be safe and work as they expect it to.
 
This is a very crucial and important progress that’s been made. What we now need to do is see the performance of the engine, capabilities, servicing requirements, number of flight hours, fuel consumption and efficiency etc. This will give us a lot of crucial data that we need and it will help us once we install it on our future stealth UCAV Ghatak which is very important drone and something we will need a lot in future.
 
IAF won’t get them even MiG 29. Half of them are grounded anyways.

Besides, it’s just the dry part, which is under testing for a long time. Wish Govt and IAF had not withdrawn the funding 17-18 years back - what a colossal loss! Only happens in India.
More lies from the DRDO apologist. It is on record that funding was being provided at least till 2016. As told to Parliament. But so far no result whatsoever has been produced which is why GoI has singularly refused to waste any aircraft on this engine and is instead exploring alternate venues like JV with a foreign vendor. GTRE has wasted decades and billions and keeps wasting them and yet hasn’t been held accountable. Only happens in India indeed.

DRDO manufactured 6-8 engines in 2011 as well for the failed Kaveri engine. So don’t think GTRE is beyond these shenanigans just to secure jobs for another 2 decades.

Thank god, some sanity prevails. Please stick to the original objective GTRE engine to power Ghatak only. Focus is key. Powering Tejas is a distant dream for now and is a distraction waste of money, efforts and timeline. Please re-read CAG reports. We still need a decade to build engine ecosystem in India, we have to wait.
May be the GRTE should try to reach around Wet 80 Kn that might be sufficient for Trainers. Additionally, the 80Kn can be sufficient for next version of Gatak!

This shows the actual conditions our R&D faces everyday while development of new technology from scratch. This is welcome step to test a down power variant of engine on real life conditions. I call this a courageous decision as this may risk a plane but one day, we have to take this risk but this risk will clear path to develop indigenous realistic DVP which is real IPR for company and nation. Harsh truth is u can only predict, DVP will show a new path to later variants and slash development time to more than half for rest of engines.. Well done boys

They made those engines as a technology demonstration to improve the thrust level but it never reached the stage where it passed cold and high altitude trials. This time the derivative engine passed the high altitude test which means that it’s safe and it works at those simulated conditions. Also DRDO aren’t the only people who said it but the company Godrej even explained everything as they are making those 6-8 engines.

Also they are integrating it with the Tejas jet so they can fly it and see its performance and capabilities. They would not be installing an engine that doesn’t work or it’s unsafe that can kill a pilot but also the jet as well.

Multiple media reports have all said that the engine passed high altitude trials and it can now be used on a plane as it’s safe and reliable.

Next you’re going to say that all media reports on the engine are liars despite saying the same thing.
 
It's great that we are finally moving ahead, though a twin seater should have been used without threatening the lives of our pilots.

Multiple media reports have been saying the same since 2000. They also said Tejas mk2 will fly in 2022. But here we are. If a DRDO officials gives a fake statement under anonymity of course all media reports will say the same thing. DRDO is a master in the art of misinformation.

It’s on record. I have shared proof many times. Official parliamentary records show that billions have been spent on Kaveri. Even DRDO officials are on record saying the same.
 
Eh, getting the engine up to 90 kN would require, in essence, a new core. The present core can probably just about reach 75-ish kN wet thrust, which is what they are targeting. Getting 90 kN wet thrust would need around 55 kN dry thrust, which isn't happening with the present core.
With the present core it is good enough for a trainer as it requires lesser power.

But still DRDO wants to do these tests to atleast build a engine which can have a thrust of 75KN and later on with this confidence can ask for funds to develop a higher thrust engine as in a longer timeline We would need at least 250+ engines for Mk1A in a mid life refit and Replacing f404 with kaveri will save at least 4 Billion $ forex reserve
