IAF Pushes for Self-Reliance with Domestic Rafale Parts Production

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is making a major move towards increased self-sufficiency by partnering with domestic manufacturers to produce spare parts for its cutting-edge Rafale fighter jets.

This initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), will see key discussions take place next month at Chandigarh's 3 Base Repair Depot (BRD).

The IAF has pinpointed a list of crucial components needed for routine Rafale maintenance. They focus on parts requiring regular replacement rather than core systems like engines or computers. Additionally, some non-flight-critical support equipment is also included.

The IAF is confident that 52 specific Rafale parts can be successfully produced by Indian companies. This bold move aims to reduce reliance on foreign parts suppliers while strategically strengthening India's domestic aerospace manufacturing capabilities.

The upcoming meeting between the IAF and the 3 BRD promises to shed light on how manufacturers will be selected and the exact specifications required for the parts.

India need to scrap this plan completely as it's going to be very expensive and completely unworkable in India

Making Rafales in India is now guaranteed. That’s why IAF is making the entire supply chain.
Here comes Akshat 😂, they are actually taking precautions for buying MRFA jets from different Country, because they are anticipating French to get mad and denying spares.

Here come your delusional theories. They are actually setting up the supply ch aim so that when they order MRFA, France can start delivering jets in even less than 36 months already promised.

Delivering 300+114+24 jets in 3 years is the biggest delusion.
