India Excluded from AUKUS Data-Sharing Initiative for P-8 Surveillance Aircraft

In a move that underscores the exclusive nature of the AUKUS alliance, India has been left out of a new trilateral data-sharing program for Boeing P-8 Poseidon surveillance aircraft.

The program, developed by Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, allows the three nations to share real-time sonobuoy data from their P-8 fleets, significantly enhancing their anti-submarine warfare capabilities.

India, which also operates a variant of the P-8 known as the P-8I, possesses a substantial maritime surveillance capability. However, its exclusion from this initiative highlights the limitations of its defence partnerships compared to the deep integration within the AUKUS alliance.

The decision to exclude India from this program is not surprising, given the exclusive nature of AUKUS, which has been positioned as a counterweight to China's growing influence in the Indo-Pacific region.

However, it does raise questions about the potential for future collaboration between India and the AUKUS partners on maritime security issues.

Some analysts have suggested that India's exclusion may be temporary, and that the AUKUS partners could consider extending the data-sharing program to include India in the future.

However, others believe that the exclusion is deliberate and reflects the strategic priorities of the AUKUS alliance, which prioritizes cooperation among its core members.

As the AUKUS alliance continues to deepen its defence cooperation, India will need to carefully consider its options for maintaining its maritime security capabilities and forging partnerships that advance its strategic interests.

I have a feeling they'll extend this to include Canada (once they get their P-8s from 2026), New Zealand, and South Korea. The former two would come under 5 Eyes, and the latter would come in as a defence partner.

South Korea won't be included

Maybe India might have rejected their data sharing proposal. Why should India share its sensitive ocean data with other countries.

5 Eyes, 7 Eyes, AUKUS ..; This are exclusive Clubs of Gora Bughers. We don't fall in that superior category.. We will ultimately be invited to haul their military cargo, do manpower & logistics support, do laundry & sanitation services, supply rations etc.

Definitely not a nice development at all.
All the statements/pronouncements made so far about QUAD and Indo-Pacific are forked tongue statements only.

India must develop its own maritime patrol aircraft and look after Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.

India must remember that there are no permanent friends and no permanent enemies, but only ever abiding national interests which must be safeguarded at all times.

Can't fool everyone all the time, White supremacy was, is and will continue to be a factor. Instead of worrying we must concentrate on getter better and stronger as early as possible.

India has its strategic autonomy. Lets be realistic. AUKUS is just US with its two vassals who have no independent foreign/mil policy. Which essentially means that AU/UK ops have been taken over by US. It doesnt mean that in the event of an Indo-China war, US is going to withhold data. 100% guarantee that they will share the data with India behind close doors. If Philippines got attacked, we will be tracking China's ACs and give that data to them. Self interests.

Remember that Biden - Sunak cartoon, which goes something like "Hey Ritchie, so I told the Australians we will park our attack subs in their country & make them pay for it. And the best part is, he agreed"

Its in intrest of India not to reveal it's cards
Anyways we have maritime agreement with us to share ior data @ warships and submarine
So nothing to loose if opted out
