Hyderabad-based Zen Technologies Limited, a leading provider of defence training solutions, has announced the grant of an Indian patent for its groundbreaking “T-72 Containerized Crew Gunnery Simulator System.” The patent, awarded on January 8, 2025, marks the company's eleventh in the fiscal year 2024-25, highlighting its continued innovation in military training technology.

The newly patented T-72 Containerized Crew Gunnery Simulator System is designed to significantly enhance the combat readiness of T-72 tank crews. The system provides a sophisticated and immersive training environment, enabling commanders and gunners to hone their skills in a realistic, yet safe, simulated battlefield.

Key features of the simulator include its highly immersive simulation capabilities, replicating the operational challenges of a T-72 tank in combat. Trainees can engage targets, manage ammunition, and navigate complex terrains, all within the simulator. The system is also containerized, allowing for rapid deployment and setup, making it a highly flexible solution that can be utilized in various locations without the need for permanent infrastructure. This mobility enhances the accessibility of advanced training for military units across different regions.

Furthermore, the simulator incorporates a dynamic motion platform that recreates the physical sensations of tank movement and firing, providing a more authentic experience. This feature is crucial for developing muscle memory and improving reaction times, essential skills for effective combat operations.

The T-72, a Soviet-designed main battle tank, has been a mainstay in numerous armed forces globally since its introduction in the 1970s. The Indian Army, for instance, operates a significant number of T-72 variants, known as the "Ajeya" in Indian service. Therefore, advanced training solutions like Zen Technologies' simulator are vital for maintaining the operational effectiveness of these units.

Zen Technologies has established itself as a leader in the defence training sector, with a diverse portfolio of products including live, virtual, and constructive simulation systems. The company has secured over 130 patents in India, along with 50 filed internationally, reflecting its strong emphasis on research and development.

With the increasing complexity of modern warfare, the demand for advanced training simulators is expected to grow significantly. Zen Technologies, with its focus on innovation and proven track record, is well-positioned to contribute to the modernization of armed forces both in India and internationally.
