First it was one lost soul IAF ACM that demanded 5th gen. tech's and that MRFA jets must be upgradeable to full 5th gen., and that all DRDO developed 5th gen. tech's must be compatible to MRFA jets [utter nonsensical imbecile requests]. Now, GoI wanting 100% ToT's and 100% manufacturing in India! IAF will be very FUCQKED in a few years when fleet strength falls to below 30 squadrons. And PAF is the 4th technically strongest and largest AF in the whole world; will be at 38 squadrons with majority 4.5 gen. fighter jets...

Big words when our own project languishes in eternal delays. I have previously mentioned, I have no issues if the domestic DPSU can deliver the project as per specifications within time frame. Unfortunately, they have proven that they cant. Over and over they continue to miss deadlines with projects languishing in perpetual delays. In such a scenario they leave us with no choice but to rely on imported defense equipment.

Unfortunately when DPSU are incapable of meeting requirements on time, they dont really have right to complain if services scout for alternatives to fill capability void as they simply cant wait for decades to see the requested platform enter prototype testing and then subsequent production. Moreover till the time they enter service, the core avionics architecture around which its designed would have become obsolete.

My point is they'll be force to transfer the whole production area of technology and expertise in India,... The foreign company will training and thought the Indian workers of knowledge and know-how because they're the one's who will be using the advance machineries.... Plus the printouts of manuals and instructions whether it's software or hardware.... With the supervision of government entity seeing them doing it's obligation contract of orders and supply support plus maintenance....

The best available Russian engine (if you can call them that) doesn't actually solve our problem. Besides engines, the problem that we face is also that we cannot build aircraft fast enough.

We have also invested a lot of money into indigenous engine R&D, which has proven to be rather disappointing. Oh, and you do realise that most of out projects would require some level of redesign and a lot of testing if you suddenly switched out the powerplant, right?

It is really good to emphasise on make in India and ToT. But the Indian government officials know damn well the MRFA fighter aircrafts procurement is not going to happen so they come up with this bombastic shift in policy. The foreign defence manufacturers know it very well too but they are just testing the water, to see how far the can go. This MRFA fighter aircraft programs has taken unrealistically too much time to become a reality. The MoD officials should just forget about the MRFA and wait for china to send them an invitation before their surprise attack from the border. I am with the strong belief MRFA is not going to happen.

IAF don't have concrete plan. Blindly purchased 272 su 30mki's, to upgrade su 30mki's will cost same as new one. even today they don't have proper 5th gen fighter plan. Best way to fill the gap is to purchase another 36 rafales. All other 4th gen jet testing is waste of time.

Hopefully offloading them and offering upgrading systems to others could recover most costs but only IAF knows what their replacements will look like.

Its a confirmation that chances of Rafale to back, after crossing international border is lesser as compared to Super Sukhoi SU30mki. Hence SU30 remained our "Top Gun" for any nuclear operation needed outside Indian border......
Hence we we find the Western suppliers deceived our then MRCA deal with this so poor and expansive product, the Rafale 👎

We find even our LCA mk1 better than F16s/F52s for any operation needed within Indian territory. And it comes with welcomed home made GE engines, whose direct/indirect taxes was paid within India for manufacturing within 👍

the main issue is, the Rafale needs to promise whether it may back after a N-operation needed outside the Indian territory? if it couldn't replace the Super Sukhois SU30mki as "Top Gun", nor its Air superiority capabilities is above even Mig29k, then why we need so expansive, a product of 'unreliable' Western suppliers, for any operation needed within Indian territory?

for domestic operations, our LCA mk1 is home product and measured above F16 block52..... 🍵

note: we have full infrastructure and 30years+ training on Mig29s. i dont see that reliable infrastructure of even SU30mki within India..... 👍

we have credible infrastructure of 'upgraded' Mig29s, with more than 40years+ training on it, since Cold War time. 🍵
as in post#169, the Indian Navy knew that the newly inducted Mig29k by 2010 to our new AC, will always be reliable to bet as compared to go for any Western suppliers...... a reliable supplier has more meaning than bit more reliable arm 👎
the spares parts infrastructure of 'upgraded' Mig29s is nearly at par with Moscow's states since Cold War. its too better as compared to Su30mki also 🍵
