Gripen-E is better performer than F16 Blk72 but will costs higher i.e., closer to 260 millions usd per jet! Rafale nothing less than 400 millions usd lifetime ops costs per jet...

India should buy 5th generation fighters instead of MRFA. Instead split this into two parts. Buy 2 more squadrons of Rafale and buy 5 squadrons of 5th generation fighters. By the time we decide and start induction of these aircrafts it will be too late ~2030-35. We can't wait so long when china is inducting J20s. Buy off the shelf 4 sqd of 5th gen and 2 more sqd of Rafale.
Expedite Tejas mk2 and AMCA...for induction between 2035-40

Yeah But Not US Fighter jet which are back stabbers, second Tejas MK2 is in same category as Gripen (Single Engine+Similar Power plant +Takeoff weight) Third French have better weapon package & Most Important Naval variant of Rafale if French win Engine Development deal that Engine will b common platform for Rafale (36+26 + 114 MRFA ) AMCA TEDBF & Tejas MK2 , where Saab Lacks all this Add t that French can offer consultancy in AMCA Project TEDBF & SSN Developent (pump jet prop ) , Collaboration in Military satellite & Under water Drones Lots of option From French need to grab this all , Some Thing Great is cooking under Project INFRA

Why not SAAB, they have their own 5th gen program FLYGSYSTEM 2020, unlike French who have to depend on three other Countries and can’t help us alone.

YES. New ACM seems very smart, so he might even go in for L-1 F21 jets also; as Dassault is demanding 400+ millions usd per unit of Rafale F4.2 jet in lifetime ops costs now!!

India will still go with Rafale .....

Rafale-M is 400 millions usd per unit jet lifetime costs... F16 might be around 180 millions usd per jet..

I think our defence experts and IAF are the best persons to judge which fighter jet is the best for IAF considering all critical issues. But as a layman I feel, provided France is ready for technology transfer of fighter jet engine to India and agree for co-production of Rafle, it would be a better deal to considering.
