Strengthening Maritime Bonds Indonesia and India Deepen Naval Cooperation Through 44th INDIND...webp

In a significant step toward reinforcing regional maritime cooperation, the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) contingent arrived at Sri Vijaya Puram for the 44th iteration of the India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT). The delegation, comprising the KRI Lambung Mangkurat and a CN235 maritime patrol aircraft, was led by Commodore FADM Ardiansyah Musqit. The arrival was met with a warm reception by the Indian Navy, symbolizing the enduring camaraderie and strategic alignment between the two maritime neighbors.

A courtesy call on the Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), followed the arrival, underscoring the shared commitment of both nations to maritime security, enhanced interoperability, and enduring friendship. This high-level engagement highlights the mutual trust and growing synergy between the navies of India and Indonesia.

The IND-INDO CORPAT series, held biannually since 2002, aims to bolster cooperative security efforts in the region, particularly in combating illegal activities at sea, such as piracy, smuggling, and illegal fishing. The exercise also enhances operational coordination through joint surveillance, information sharing, and maritime domain awareness.

The 44th edition of the CORPAT comes at a time when the Indo-Pacific region faces complex maritime challenges. As both nations share maritime borders and strategic interests in the region, the coordinated patrol underscores the importance of a rules-based order at sea and the collective responsibility to maintain freedom of navigation and secure sea lanes of communication.
